Renovation of a 110-year-old townhouse
It is believed that the Daigoku-den Hall of Heian-kyo once stood here, and the "Daigoku-den Remnants Monument" commemorating this event can be seen in Uchino Children's Park to the north of the building.
The second floor of this machiya, built more than 110 years ago, is designed to show "Takekomai", "Rough Clay Wall", and "Middle Coat Wall", showing the process of making clay walls in the traditional way.
