Rinn Kyoto Station West is a hotel-style accommodation with 16 rooms that is located in Kaikoji-cho on the west side of Kyoto Station, about a 10-minute walk from the station proper.
The name Kaikoji-cho comes from the fact that a temple named "Kaiko-ji" existed here a long time ago.
Today, it is an area with popular tourist destinations close at hand, such as Umekoji Park, Kyoto Aquarium, and the Kyoto Railway Museum. However, Kaiko-ji temple was founded in the middle of the Kamakura Period (1185-1333 CE) and was lost in the Onin War. It was then relocated several times until being rebuilt as a minor temple on the grounds of Sennyu-ji Temple.
The interior here is based around the historical context of the period, with the front desk being decorated with tiles inspired by stone walls and armor, suggesting the ancient wartime period.
The guest room suggests the idea of Kyoto's evolution into the present, which has weathered those challenging times to become a peaceful place. To that end, the room features a calm yellow, one of the five colors of Buddhism, a two-tone wood grain, and incorporates a tatami mat space and Simmons beds to bring you relaxation and pleasure.
