There are historic buildings used by the Shinsengumi, such as the Shimabara Omon, which is a registered tangible cultural property, "Sumiya," the only existing example in Japan of a high-class pleasure house in the "ageya" style, and Wachigaiya, a geisha house that is still in business today.
