Rinn Gojo Honmachi

Rinn Gojo Honmachi

A traditional townhouse inherited from a potter

Rinn Gojo Honmachi is located three minutes on foot from Kiyomizu-Gojo Station on the Keihan Main Line, and is right nearby the Gojo Ohashi Bridge, where the Kamogawa River flows.
Higashiyama Ward is a tourist destination with so much to do that you cannot complete it all in one day: there is Kiyomizu-michi, Sanjusangendo, the Kyoto National Museum, and Hokoku Shrine.
This house was built in 1910 as a combined store, residence, and workshop for a potter over 100 years ago.
Beneath the living room there is still an underground space that was once used by the potter to leave clay to rest before turning it into Kiyomizu ware.
Why not take this opportunity to experience the lives of locals in the birthplace of Kiyomizu-ware and a historic townhouse that has been handed down from generation to generation?
