Miyagawa-cho, or Higashiyama-ku, is one of the five traditional Hanamachi districts and traditional streets in Kyoto.
The area is one of the quietest places in Kyoto, with rows of tea houses where you can enjoy the arts of geiko and maiko, who specialize in song, dance, and musical performance.
The facility is located on Miyagawa-suji, a very quiet place.
Hitotose means a whole year or 4 seasons, which means spring, summer, fall, and winter.
Aki (穐) means autumn. (秋)
The name "穐" comes from the fact that the last day of the performance at a nearby theater is called "Sen-Shu-Raku." (千穐楽).
It is said that in the Edo period (1603–1867), the Chinese character for "autumn(秋) contained the character for "fire," so the Chinese character for "turtle(亀) was used for auspicious occasions.
